Puppy Application Do you own your home? If so, have you checked with your HOA, and city/county ordinances to make sure there are no breed restrictions?
If you rent your home, are there breed or size restrictions? Is your yard fenced in?
Have you ever owned a Dane or other giant breed before? If so, what was your experience with them?
Why are you interested in a Great Dane?
Do you have an established vet? Have you asked him/her about their experience with giant breeds?
Are you prepared for the expenses of a giant breed dog? They can cost more to feed and might require more vet visits. Pet insurance is a good idea or some sort of savings for a potential emergency with your pet.
Do you have children? If so, what are their ages? If you have small children, how will you accommodate safe interactions between them and your large puppy?
Do you plan to crate train? How many hours per day will the dog be in the crate?
If it ever becomes necessary to re-home your dog, are you willing to return him/her to me OR if you had a friend/family member in mind, would you be willing to coordinate with me so they can sign my contract?
Do you have time to train a puppy that will grow very rapidly? (It is much easier to train when they are small before they become over 100 lbs of puppy energy!)
Are you willing to wait until the entire puppy vaccine series are completed before taking a puppy to public places?
Are you willing to stay in contact with me throughout the life of your dog? I don't expect constant communication, but at least yearly pictures and updates would be very appreciated. I am also always available if you have questions or concerns. Unless you buy a puppy with breeding rights, are you willing to commit to not breed your puppy and to have him or her fixed at an appropriate age? Should behavioral problems arise, are you willing to put in the work and training necessary to try to correct any issues OR would you be willing to consult a qualified dog trainer if needed? Have you discussed your desire for a puppy with all other membrs of you household and is everyone in agreement about the decision to have a puppy? What other information would you like me to know about you or your home?
